Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis believed the greatest investment one could make was in people. For nearly 40 years, she dedicated her life to developing students, mentoring colleagues, and strengthening the Communication Arts Department at Georgia Southern University. She had a rare ability to recognize potential before others could see it and a relentless commitment to helping individuals refine that potential into something meaningful and impactful.
Her legacy is not only found in her accomplishments, but in the thousands of lives she shaped along the way. The Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis Legacy Campaign was established to honor that legacy in a way that reflects both the depth of her influence and the vision she held for the future. With a fundraising goal of $5 million, this campaign seeks to transform the Communication Arts Department at Georgia Southern University into the Dr. Pamela G. Bourland-Davis School of Communication Arts; a milestone she long believed was possible and worked toward throughout her career.
Elevating the department to a named school is more than a title change. It represents growth, distinction and opportunity. It signals a commitment to academic excellence, expanded resources and a stronger platform for innovation in communication education. Most importantly, it ensures that Dr. Pam’s name, and the values she embodied, remain permanently woven into the future of the program she helped build.
This campaign is a collective effort to carry her vision forward. Through the support of alumni, colleagues, friends and community partners, we are not only honoring her legacy but as we are actively shaping what comes next.
As the Communication Arts Department enters this next chapter, it will continue to reflect the principles Dr. Pam championed: mentorship, opportunity, global perspective and a deep belief in the power of communication to change lives.
